How Whitespace Normalization Works
Whitespace cleaners parse text buffers character-by-character and apply regex substitution rules to strip redundant Unicode space code points (U+0020), horizontal tabs, and blank carriage return sequences.
Regex Transformations
Collapse Multiple Spaces: text.replace(/[ \t]+/g, ' ')
Trim Lines: line.trim()
Remove Empty Lines: lines.filter(line => line.length > 0)
Common Use Cases
- Copy-Pasting from PDFs: PDFs often insert bizarre line breaks, double spaces, and broken paragraphs. This tool instantly normalizes them.
- Code and Data Cleaning: Strip trailing whitespace from CSV columns or code snippets before committing to Git.
- SEO Word Optimization: Ensure clean formatting for meta descriptions, blog submissions, and social media scheduling.
